UBU at the Better Living Challenge

In 2014 UBU entered the Better Living Challenge, a competition that sought solutions for people living in low income communities. This was our entry. We ended up jointly winning the public vote. Movie by Manenberg Movie Co. (mmco.co.za)

The Story of Sweet Home Farm

Habitat for Humanity South Africa monitored our progress in Sweet Home Farm over the last few years and produced this lovely booklet, Successful Participatory Informal Settlement Upgrading in Philippi, which gives a greater insight into what has been happening, and our particular involvement. We thank Habitat for Humanity South Africa for this incredible contribution.

Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe

We had the great privilege of journeying to Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe in 2022, to teach and build with the lovely humans from Hands of Hope. In 5 days we built an Early Childhood Development centre using recycled food bags and adjusted EcoBeams.

Since this trip the humans on the ground have adapted the technology to meet their needs and have made many more ECD’s, with a view to building 400 in the rural areas in the region.
